Are resident Pakistani allowed to remit amount for Medical Treatment abroad from their Pak- Rupee account? If yes, what is the Limit?

Yes, resident Pakistani remit amount for Medical Treatment abroad from their Pak-Rupee account up to US$ 50,000/- or equivalent in other currencies.

What are the documents required for remittance abroad for Medical Treatment?

Following are the documents required for remittance for Medical Treatment abroad from their Pak-Rupee account:
i. Appendix V-68 (revised) duly filled in by the patient/next of Kin/sponsor.

ii. Invoice/estimate of the foreign hospital.

iii. A ‘self-declaration’ from the patient, his/her next of kin or from Sponsor declaring
amount of foreign exchange essentially required for Treatment abroad.

Can Customers carry Foreign Currency Cash and/or Travelers Cheques?

Yes, Foreign Currency Cash up to US$5,000/- or equivalent is allowed for patient and one attendant only. This amount would be endorsed on the passports of each one and total of Foreign Currency Cash + Remittance amount should not exceed US$50,000/- limit per calendar year. The Issuance /encashment of Traveler Cheques were facilitated by foreign banks/branches earlier and now this facility is no more available.

Are resident Pakistani allowed to remit amount for Studies abroad from their Pak-Rupee account? What is the Limit?

Yes, resident Pakistani remit amount for Studies abroad from their Pak-Rupee account up to US$70,000/- or equivalent in other currencies per calendar year on account of Application / processing charges, tuition fee, living expenses etc.

Can we make remittances in the name of accredited / recognized foreign institutions/universities?

Yes we can remit in the name of accredited / recognized foreign institutions/universities.

Can we make remittances for other studies related expenses?

Yes we can make remittances for tuition fee, living expenses and other dues (health, insurance, union, sports, library fees etc.) on behalf of students studying abroad.

Can we remit amount for living expenses to Student?

The Living or miscellaneous expenses as indicated by the respective foreign institution/university, if not being remitted to the institution, can be sent to the student himself via SWIFT message or demand draft.

What are the documents required for remittance abroad for Studies?

Following are the documents required for remittance for Studies abroad from their Pak-Rupee account:
i. Application Form (revised Appendix V-78) duly filled in by the student/ parent/ guardian.

ii. Copies of Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC)/Form ‘B’ of the student and CNIC of the Parent/guardian.

iii. Copy of passport of the student.

iv. Letter of admission from foreign educational institution.

v. Letter/ Cost Sheet from foreign educational institution showing break-up of expenses.

Are resident Pakistani allowed any Private Travel Exchange Quota? What is the Limit?

Yes Private travel exchange quota (PTEQ) would be released by Authorized Dealers for the period of stay abroad as may be declared on “T-1" form subject to prescribed maximum ceiling. The current ceilings are:
i. Private travel exchange quota (PTEQ) up to $ 50/-per day per person subject to maximum of US$ 2,100/- per calendar year for countries other than Bangladesh and Afghanistan.

ii. Private travel exchange quota (PTEQ) up to $ 100/- per head for Bangladesh.

iii. No foreign exchange for Afghanistan.

What is the Limit for children?

Children below age of 2 years are entitled to 10% of PTEQ and Children over age of 2 years and below 12 years are entitled to draw 50% of PTEQ. For travel to Bangladesh Children age up to 12 years are entitled to draw PTEQ 50% per head.

Can travelers carry Foreign Currency Cash and/or Travelers Cheques?

Yes travelers can carry cash as per prescribed limit stated above in FAQs 1 & 2. Traveler Cheques Issuance /encashment were facilitated by foreign banks/branches which have rolled back their operations in Pakistan; due to this reason we cannot accept Traveler Cheques at our counters. However, there is no restriction in dealing in Traveler Cheques from SBP.

What are the documents required for release of Private Travel exchange quota (PTEQ)?

Following are the documents required:
i. Passport

ii. CNIC

iii. Ticket

iv. Visa

What are the documents required to be produced to SBP Inspection Teams for Private Travel exchange quota (PTEQ)?

Following are the documents required to be produced to SBP Inspection Teams:
i. Copies of Pages 1, 2 and 3 with inside title page and that page of the passport on  which endorsement is made for issuance of foreign exchange is made.

ii. First coupon of air / steamer ticket

iii. Visa

Can Authorized Dealers issue the travel quota for traveling aboard during Shawwal to Zilhaj?

No foreign exchange will be made available during the period from 10th Shawwal to 10th Zilhaj. Authorized Dealers can release may release Private Travel Exchange Quota, where admissible, on production of No Objection Certificate issued by the Ministry of Religious Affairs & Minorities Affairs, Government of Pakistan, and Islamabad.

Can we issue the travel quota for Business persons for Travel Abroad? Is Prior approval of SBP required? What is the Limit?

Yes and prior approval of SBP is required for Private travel exchange quota (PTEQ) for business visits is $ 300/- per day subject to maximum of $ 9000/- per person for countries other than India and Afghanistan. For India foreign exchange $ 40/- per day maximum to $ 1,200/- per person are allowed.

What other purpose are available for which Authorized Dealers can release Travel Quota? Is Prior approval of SBP required?

Following are different purpose for which Authorized Dealers can release the travel quota with prior approval of SBP :
1. Journalists

2. Participation in International Conferences/Seminars / Sports Events Etc.

3. Participation in International Meetings and in Private Capacity.

What is the Limit available for Travel of Journalists/ Participation in International Conferences/Seminars / Sports Events / International Meetings and in Private Capacity?

Yes, US$60/- per head per day subject to a maximum of US$1,000/- per head for countries other than India, Bangladesh and Afghanistan.
