Leading by example, Dr. Salima Raisuddin Ahmed lived to serve – her contributions to the fight for women’s rights are greatly lauded. She was the Founder-President of the Pakistan Federation of Business & Professional Women’s Organization. She served at various key Government offices as Accountant General East Pakistan, Director of Defense Audit, Finance Director PIDC, and Secretary to the Federal Government Cabinet Secretariat and Women’s Division. She was also the initiating force behind the Gharo Poverty Alleviation Program, and spent her life serving humanity through vast social work efforts. She was nominated Peace Messenger by the United Nations in 1988. She was the recipient of prestigious awards including the Sitara-e-Khidmat in 1968, and the VIP Award in 1988. She also received the International Badge of Honor, BPW International Award, and various medals and skills of honor.
